How to plant
Position them in semi-shade and loosen the soil to a depth of about 30cm. Ginger can also be planted in deep pots with drainage holes. Soil must be well-draining with a mixture of sand and compost. Plant at a depth of 10cm and 30cm apart. Water every three to four days for 10 minutes, provided it hasn't rained. Every 2-3 days in pots.
Harvest time
Harvest when the leaves start to turn yellow and die back. This is usually 8 to 10 months after planting. Ginger flowers in summer.
