Asparagus takes a lot of patience, space and a few years before they can be harvested. Once started, they will provide fresh Asparagus for 20 years in spring. They enjoy rich and well-composted soil and prefer it to be slightly acidic or neutral. They should be planted at a depth of 1cm and there should be 60cm between the rhizomes.
Once the foliage has yellowed in autumn, cut the leaves above the ground level and add compost as a mulch to keep in moisture. Let the plants rest without water for winter. You can continue watering again in spring and ensure you feed the plant Hadeco bulb food regularly.
Stop harvesting at 6 to 7 weeks so that the plant can prepare itself for next season. The lowest temperature that this plant can tolerate is 0°C.
